Arts, Crafts & Shopping
The dramatic landscape of the Burren has always inspired crafts people, artists and art lovers alike. Dotted throughout the locality you’ll find galleries, gift shops and individuals selling their wares. Places to look out for include The Ballyvaughan Crafts Fair, The Russell Gallery, The Burren Perfumery, and Lahinch and Doolin boast some fine woollen shops too.
County Clare consistently boasts one of the most quixotic, stubborn and intriguing collection of artisan food producers which was highlighted when The Burren Food Trail was the big winner of the Irish Foodie Town competition in 2015. We especially recommend visiting the local farmers markets (such as Ballyvaughan, Ennistymon and Kinvara) and The Burren Smokehouse in Lisdoonvarna, as well as stocking up on Burren Gold cheese, which is made and sold at the Ailwee Caves. Nearby we also have Hazel Mountain Chocolates which is one of the very few bean to bar Choclatiers in Ireland.
A selection of helpful local maps and books are for sale at the hotel reception, or online from
